As a members of the course about the role of the media in the globalization and especially the role of the social network in our daily life, we decided to have a different look on our own experience of Facebook, Youtube and other social network.

Last year, we used it a lot.

We were members of a student association which organize two event every years.

Our student association is called Human ISC.

Even as exchange students in Hong-Kong, we are still part of it in France. The aim of our association is to help children living next to us. This is a proximity social help provide through several missions we will explain later in detail.

Last year, we organized two events :

-The Human Comedy Club, this is a humor show with some famous humorist in France who came and to a little sketch for free in order to gain money. With that money, we offer the opportunity to orphan to see the snow and to ski for the first time in their lifes.

-The Humanighty, is a party organized in a parisian club with a theme (which changes every years). The benefits of that event are given to a parisian association which provide nurses, games and other activities to the children who are living in the hospital.

By presenting those events, we aim to explain the main role of Facebook and Youtube especially, because as you'll see, we use it a lot and almost exclusively to promote and communicate about it.

We will although present our implication in those project and event : the events of last year in which we were really involved and the event of this year in which we more have the role of advisers and supporters for the freshmen.

The Human comedy club use video on Youtube to promote this event. It occurs every years, this is good because it helps us to catch the different uses of YouTube to promote event, especially with and without Facebook.

During the research part of this essay, I noticed that the different between the views of the video was huge even if only one year separate the two events.

We identified two main reasons explaining the different amount of views:

1-The use of Facebook was really different and we didn't use it a lot as a communication tool. Last year was the first time we used Facebook that much to promote. For example, we decided for every event that our avatar will be the poster of the event'. Like behind it :

So the use of Facebook more intensively was one point for this increasing number of views.

2- The video was longer and more interesting. Because this is an event about humor, the second video is a parody of a funny french short Tvshow.

Other reason : Some of the artist became more famous then they was one year before.

 Human Comedy Club

The Human comedy Club is based on the name of a french humorist team which is the Jamel Comedy Club. The leader of this group is Jamel Debbouze, a french humorist who created this troop in order to help the new humorist to begin their career.

Some of the humorist who are guest of our event come from the troops, others come from other troops of humorists or they do one-man-shows.

Each year, the humorists present at our event change. Every year, around 12 known or even famous humorists come and do a little sketch which last around 10 minutes in order to help us to get money for the children.

Because the first motivation of this event is to bring some orphans in vacation, most of the time the purpose is to show them the snow, maybe for the first time, and to teach them how to ski. Those children are living in reception centers.

they don't have parents and they don't go anywhere during the holiday. This is a major event for our association because we really need to make the people come and to be successful if we want to offer a wonderful trip to those children.

Organizing this event demand a large preparation and a lot of tasks :

-Finding a theater at an acceptable price and big enough for an average of 900 spectators

-Motivate the artists, make them come for free to our event.

-Finding some sponsors in order to find gifts and goodies for the public and the artists.

-Promoting the event (especially though Facebook, Youtube and Twitter but although by selling tickets on specialized websites in the humorists shows)

-Selling the ticket, finding the right price, place to sell it and scheduling the selling times.

-Recruiting a staff in order to manage everyone and everything during the show (this will probably be member of the association, therefore they need to be formed and they need briefing in order to know what to do and when they have to do it).

Fixing everything for such an event is really exhausting for the  person in charge. This is the reason why the person in charge of it is helped by the other teammate of the association. The Second-year student members play the role of advisor and final-decision maker while the First-year students are supposed to look for opportunities, communicate with the artist, promoting the event. The second years are the head while the first years are the hands.
